The overture to 'The Sea Hawk' and the Violin Concerto showcase the colourful style of Erich Wolfgang Korngold, one of Hollywood's most influential film composers. In Gustav Mahler's popular Symphony No. 1, sounds of nature, folk-like melodies, and powerful crescendos form a multi-layered soundscape ranging from poetic idyll and subtle irony to a dramatic finale.
Dirk Kaftan has been General Music Director of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn and Bonn Opera since 2017. As a sought-after guest conductor, he works with renowned orchestras and opera houses, including the Vienna Symphony, the KBS Symphony Orchestra Seoul, the Bamberg Symphony, and the NDR Radiophilharmonie.
