Yes, you read that right: in Seefeld's small art gallery KiS - Kunst in Seefeld a show by the US-American photo artist David LaChapelle will open soon. His opulent picture cycle "Jesus is My Homeboy" with the iconic "Last Supper" at its centre will be on display in Seefeld from 23 June.
LaChapelle, the master of pathos and emotion, transposes the Jesus story into today's American metropolitan settings, which he furnishes with detailed backdrops and populates with young people who could have sprung from the rapper or hip-hop scene. They gather as disciples, Mary Magdalene or unbelieving Thomas around the figure at the centre of the action: Jesus Christ, who dominates each of these tableaux vivants as if from another star.
