The most talented aspiring professional early music musicians from across Europe present a programme conducted by Shunske Sato, dedicated to the contrasts between war and peace, suffering and renewal. From the dramatic expressiveness of Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto in D minor BWV 1052r with the cantata BWV 146 'Wir müssen durch viel Trübsal' (We must through much tribulation) to the depictions of war in Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber's 'Battalia' and the elegant contrasts of Georg Philipp Telemann's 'La Bourse' suite, the programme explores different musical expressions of conflict. Featuring works by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach and Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 4 BWV 1069 in dialogue with cantata BWV 110, the journey culminates in renewed harmony and hope.
