Foto Forum marks its 35 years of dedication to photography with a festival that coincides with a remarkable anniversary: 2026 is the two-hundredth year since the „invention" of photography. It was in 1826 that Joseph Nicéphore Niépce created View from the Window at Le Gras, the first permanently fixed image in history.

The festival runs from 10 May to 27 June in Bozen-Bolzano, exploring the technical and artistic development of the medium and its inseparable relationship with society. The programme includes seven talks with photographers and authors, including internationally acclaimed figures, three workshops for adults, two for children, a temporary exhibition, and a creative breakfast.

The events approach photography from historical, conceptual, technical, philosophical, and social perspectives, turning Foto Forum into an open space for dialogue, experimentation, and networking. The festival has built numerous collaborations with other associations and cultural venues, including Weigh Station, Südtiroler Kulturinstitut, Lumen Museum, ZeLIG, and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
