Brahms Quintets with the Gringolts Quartet and Lilli Maijala
The quintets of Johannes Brahms will take centre stage on the evening of 11 April 2026, featuring Ilya Gringolts with his string quartet alongside the celebrated violist Lilli Maijala.
Founded in 2008, the Gringolts Quartet has earned widespread acclaim for the radiance and extraordinary differentiation of its sound: brilliant, dense, warm, and gleaming like bronze and gold, capable of illuminating even the finest details of every score it performs.
Lilli Maijala is one of the most distinguished performers in Northern Europe, having earned universal recognition as a violist across every artistic field in which her instrument plays a role. As a soloist, she has collaborated with orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, the Tampere Philharmonic, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, the Essen Chamber Orchestra, and the Tapiola Sinfonietta. Their recording of the Brahms quintets, made in 2024, was met with enthusiastic critical acclaim.
