Hannibal’s historic crossing of the Alps is being staged for the 25th time this year on the Rettenbachferner glacier as a modern, large-scale open-air theatre production. Set in the mountains of the Ötztal valley, dance, extreme sports, and an impressive light show merge into a unique display at over 3,000 metres above sea level.
As dusk falls on the glacier, you are drawn into a world of ice, fire, and gripping music. The performance recreates the Carthaginian journey across the Alps with a level of intensity often seen in major films. Amidst snow groomers, skydivers, and modern lighting, the energy of this historical moment feels very real. Follow the choreography and enjoy an event where the lines between reality and the stage disappear. Bring plenty of warm clothing and experience the glacier as it is transformed.
