Mendelssohn and the Voice of Instruments

Mendelssohn and the Voice of Instruments

Thursday 16 Apr

Bolzano City Centre (Bolzano)

20:00 - 21:00

As part of the concert season "Monteverdi in Concert" at the Conservatorio Claudio Monteverdi in Bolzano, a concert bringing together two works of remarkable expressive intensity takes place on Thursday, 16 April.
The programme features the Concerto for Piano, Violin and Strings by Felix Mendelssohn, in which dramatic momentum meets the controlled energy characteristic of early Romanticism, and the Concerto op. 35 for Piano, Trumpet and Strings by Dmitri Shostakovich, where musical tension shifts into sharp irony, reflecting the restlessness of the twentieth century. In both works, Sturm und Drang is not merely an expression of drama but becomes the true creative driving force: the soloists' virtuosity serves as the vehicle for a profound, contrast-rich musical language.

The Streichorchester Monteverdi Akademie performs under the direction of Maurizio Colasanti, with Giorgia Alessandra Brustia on piano, Marco Pierobon on trumpet, and Marco Bronzi on violin.

Admission is free.
