The road from Spondigna/Spondinig (the starting point) up to the pass (2,760 m – 9,055 ft) takes participants through a formidable 1,869 m (6,132 ft) difference in altitude and 48 hairpin bends in the midst of the Stelvio National Park. At the Hotel Franzenshöhe (2,188 m) athletes are treated to a bikers’ party with music and local food specialities.
