First aid is widespread, but few people know that there is also last aid. While first aid saves lives, last aid accompanies people on their final journey. Both approaches demonstrate the willingness to support others in extreme life situations.
The South Tyrol emergency medical service also offers last aid courses for the population to raise awareness and improve skills in dealing with the dying. The courses provide practical knowledge about accompanying and caring for people in their final phase of life, knowledge that has often been lost. Through education, empathetic conversations, practical tips, and space for exchange, the courses aim to help participants overcome fears and inhibitions when dealing with this sensitive topic.
The course topics are:
Dying is a part of life
Planning and decision-making
Relieving suffering and saying goodbye
The number of participants is limited to 20. Registration is mandatory.
