Titlá (“go ahead”) was, more than 30 years ago, the reply of a host to the question of whether it would be possible to play music in his venue. Since then, the group Titlá has become the symbol of what is known as the new folk music of South Tyrol, captivating audiences with its unique style.
Traditional songs in the Puster Valley dialect find their place alongside Irish, Celtic, and even Yiddish sounds. The band’s original compositions, written by its members, are often raw and distinctive, making Titlá’s style unmistakable and bringing them success and recognition even beyond South Tyrol. The songs are catchy, sometimes melancholic, amusing, and full of storytelling, with lyrics sung with conviction in the local dialect: from yodels to ländler to polkas – genuine and intense, unaffected by modern music trends and therefore entirely unique.
Titlá are:
Peter Riffeser – violin & viola, vocals
Hermann Kühebacher – bagpipes, fife, flute & vocals
Toni Taschler – accordion, tuba, vocals
Eduardo Rolandelli – guitar & bouzouki, vocals
Peter Paul Hofmann – double bass, diatonic accordion & drums
