World Music Festival - Ecos De Siboney

The official successors to the world-famous Buena Vista Social Club musician!

Máximo Francisco Repilado Muños, better known as Compay Segundo, was the legendary musician of the Buena Vista Social Club and the composer of the global hit 'Chan Chan'. Even at the age of 94, he performed on the world's biggest stages. For nearly 20 years, his grandsons Ernesto, Leonardo, and Alejandro Repilado have been honouring their grandfather through music. They learned from Compay himself how to play traditional Son authentically.

He wanted his 'poetry set to music' – as he liked to call his compositions – to continue being interpreted in his spirit. Compay personally commissioned Ecos De Siboney to be his official successors, a fact even recorded on the track 'Saludo Compay'.

The group quickly gained popularity. In Cuba, Ecos De Siboney has already won the 'Premio Lucas' twice and was nominated for the 'Premio Cubadisco' (the Cuban Grammy) in the 'Traditional Music' category. Their video 'Me dirás que sabroso' also received an award in the same category.

The group keeps traditional Son Cubano alive while writing their own hits, such as 'Tengo un Son', which are now played across the globe. This was exactly what their grandfather, Compay Segundo, had envisioned: 'Somos los herederos' (We are your heirs).

During their live performances, they play many of Compay Segundo's compositions, including 'Chan Chan', 'Las Flores de la Vida', 'El Camisón de Pepa', 'Orgullecida', 'Macusa', and 'La Guantanamera', alongside their own original repertoire.
