Hildegard von Bingen, the most renowned Benedictine, mystic and polymath of the 12th century, impresses with her faith, medical knowledge and courage – still a role model today.
Her work was not limited to natural medicine, but also found artistic expression. This seminar offers an insight into Hildegard's art and music, which occupy a unique position in Gregorian chant and reflect her visionary world.
We will let some miniatures from the book Scivias affect us, read some excerpts from the “Virtues and Vices” and listen to selected compositions by Hildegard. This can help us to discover our contemplative side, with colorful, symbol-rich images, uplifting music and a vivid language.
