On Tuesday, 9 June 2026, at 8:30 pm, a special birthday concert celebrating the 125th anniversary of Sepp Thaler will take place on the church square in Auer (in case of bad weather, the event will be held in the Aula Magna). Performers include the Auer Town Band, the Auer Church Choir, and the Kurtatsch Men’s Choir, who will present a varied and engaging musical programme together.
Sepp Thaler (1901–1982), born in Auer, shaped sacred and secular musical life in South Tyrol for decades: at just 17 he became organist and church choir director in Auer, later serving for many years as conductor of the Auer Town Band, composing numerous folk songs and significant works for wind band, and co-founding the South Tyrolean Band Association.
