FR 2026, 120', directed by: François Ozon, starring: Benjamin Voisin, Rebecca Marder, Pierre Lottin
Algiers, 1938. The 30-year-old clerk Meursault leads a life marked by indifference and monotony. The day after his mother’s funeral, he begins an affair with his former colleague Marie.
But his seemingly carefree routine is soon disrupted by his neighbor Raymond, who draws Meursault into his shady dealings – until, on a scorching hot day at the beach, a fateful event occurs.
The film conveys the timeless relevance of Camus’ text, connecting it to contemporary debates on colonialism and racism.
