Finnish ensemble Frigg is one of the country's most successful musical exports, earning a leading place in the international folk scene with exhilarating, life-affirming melodies and flawless technique. The band's name pays tribute to the Norse goddess of love and fertility, and its style is equally distinctive: "Nordgrass" blends Scandinavian folk with American bluegrass, drawing in fans of folk, world and classical music alike.
The band brings together the finest folk musicians of their generation in Finland, all deeply rooted in the Kaustinen region, whose fiddling tradition is inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Trained at the prestigious Sibelius Academy and honed through thousands of concerts, they deliver a show in which the interplay of violins, mandolin, guitar and double bass combines with an electrifying, high-energy performance unlike any other. For Frigg, folk music is an expression of the joy of life and the ultimate invitation to dance: a live concert is nothing short of a musical hurricane.
