KLANGfesteMUSICALI – Rajaton

Wednesday 17 Jun

Bolzano

20:30 - 22:00
Reservation required

The Finnish vocal ensemble Rajaton takes the stage at Castel Roncolo in Bolzano as part of the KLANGfesteMUSICALI series. The six-member ensemble has developed a truly distinctive style – unconventional, contemporary and refreshing. Its singers come from vastly different musical backgrounds, ranging from early music and classical to jazz, folk, pop and rock. Each member brings their own musical ideas and solo qualities, giving the ensemble an exceptional breadth and energy.

The group's name says it all: "rajaton" means "boundless" in Finnish – and boundless is exactly what the evening's programme promises to be. "The voice is boundless" features songs rooted in Finnish folk melodies, legends and poetry, alongside arrangements of well-known pop hits. Rajaton frequently imitates a range of instruments and brings polka and tango rhythms to life in lively, witty arrangements. Exhilarating "Finnish funk" and laid-back grooves sit alongside wistful sounds of hymn-like power. The programme includes classics such as their signature hit Butterfly by Mia Makaroff, a cappella pieces by The Cure and Queen, as well as original compositions and arrangements by ensemble members.

Essi Wuorela – soprano
Aili Ikonen – soprano
