Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world, is a country full of contrasts: natural rainforests and thorn forests rich in endemic species stand in contrast to cultivated landscapes. Elias Spögler will speak about the endemic flora and fauna, as well as cultural, socio-economic aspects and current issues on Thursday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature in the lecture ‘Madagascar – La Grande île: Nature, Culture, Landscape’. Spögler is a botany student at the University of Innsbruck and an active member of the Flora of South Tyrol working group, and he traveled through the country for a month in 2025.
