With Misagh Joolaee we welcome one of the leading and most innovative Kamantsche interpreters of today. The Iranian, who lives in Berlin, is a master of the traditional Iranian spiked violin. Deeply imbued traditional craftsmanship, enriched with new techniques of his own, promise astounding virtuosity and spiritual depth. Freiburg-born Sebastian Flaig, a proven specialist in oriental percussion, is the ideal duo partner in his subtly eloquent way of making music, a rhythmic and expressive mirror to Misagh Joolae's sound worlds.
The programme "Qanat" reflects the states of mind of a musician in exile who reinterprets and redefines his ancient musical culture from a distance.
