Once again, the hiker leaves the city to set off into the uncertainty of the wintry landscape. Sometimes moderately, sometimes swiftly, his path leads him through forests and meadows, along streams. He pauses, rests, looks back at his "fine sweetheart". And feels oppressed by death. How closely the romantic song and the modern pop song are intertwined is impressively demonstrated by the singer of the band "Naked Lunch", Oliver Welter, and the pianist and performance artist Clara Frühstück. They have appropriated what is probably the best-known song cycle of the Romantic period in their own way. The result is a radical and emotionally moving new interpretation, a veritable turning point in the reception of this romantic masterpiece by Franz Schubert and Wilhelm Müller. A moving journey directly into the dark soul of the world's most famous song cycle. A gentle re-thinking of the songs in the form of existentially piercing songs. This "Winterreise" reaches far beyond the boundaries of pop.
