Tour: From Maiern to the valley Ridanna

From Maiern into the valley Ridnaun to Stange
We set off at 9 am on the hiking bus from Steinegg|Collepietra to Maiern|Masseria. We travel through the Eisack|Isarco Valley and the Wipptal|Isarco Alto to Sterzing|Vipiteno, and from there westwards into the Ridnauntal|Valle Ridanna as far as Maiern|Masseria. We hike out of the valley along the stream of Mareit|Masseria, past old hamlets, across meadows and along historic stone-paved cart tracks that lead us to the listed farms of Ridnaun|Ridanna. We take a leisurely descent to Wolfsthurn Castle. Perched on a promontory, this 17th-century castle impresses with its 365 windows and has housed the South Tyrolean Hunting and Fishing Museum since 1996. At the foot of the castle, we stop for lunch at the village inn in Mareit|Masseria. Afterwards, we walk for about an hour along the stream of Mareit|Masseria to Stange|Stanghe, where our hike ends and the hiking bus is already waiting for us.

Walking time 3.5 hours – Ascent 50 m – Descent 430 m – Route length 12 km

-Meeting point: various bus stops along the route
-Participation is FREE for guests staying at our member establishments in the Eggental valley and for local residents of the Eggental valley with a Locals Card
Otherwise, adults pay €10 and juniors (aged 6 to 13) €5

Guided walks will be cancelled in the event of bad weather. The programme is also subject to change at short notice.
