Since its premiere in 2021, which saw Federica Brignone crowned with home victories, through to the 2024 edition, which was marked by the cancellation of two Super-G races due to record snowfall but also by praise from the FIS for its impeccable organisation: The Women's Alpine Ski World Cup returns to Val di Fassa with a new, prestigious event. On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March 2026, immediately after the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, a downhill and a Super-G will be held on the La VolatA piste in the San Pellegrino ski area (Moena), with mandatory training days on 5 and 6 March respectively.
Opened in 2017, the La VolatA piste has already hosted Junior World Championships and European Cup races. Accessible via the Col Margherita cable car, the course offers a mix of fluid passages, high speed and technical sections. The compact, perfectly prepared snow cover ensures ideal conditions for fast races. For the 2026 edition, the piste will be slightly adapted: new jumps and markings are intended to reduce speed in some areas, and the starting points will also be revised. The downhill starts at 2,510 m directly at the mountain station; the Super-G starts at 2,480 m. Spectators can witness the spectacle at both the start and finish lines.
Another new development: Val di Fassa, along with Soldeu, has been designated as a substitute venue for races that need to be postponed in the first half of the season. This recognition underscores the confidence of the FIS and the organisational quality of the Ladin resort.
